Turtle Lake to consider rate increases for city sewer
The Turtle Lake Commissioners will be welcoming public comment at their March meeting regarding the potential to increase sewer rates.
According to meeting minutes published in the Central McLean News-Journal on Feb. 20, the Turtle Lake City Commission held a meeting Feb. 10 where they discussed city sewer rates.
The commission discussed their sewer rates, which are currently at $5.25.
“We haven’t raised our rates for many years,” said Mayor Dianne Zenker to the News-Journal.
During the meeting, the commission shared comparable rates of what neighboring cities are paying for sewer rates. Those rates are as followed:
Pick City - $13
Drake - $17
Sawyer - $12
Underwood - $16.63
Ray - $29.50
“The commissioners will make a decision regarding the increase at the March meeting and invite the public comments at the meeting,” stated the commission meeting minutes Feb. 10.
Also during the meeting, a public suggestion was made to the council to change the truck route from Roosevelt Street to NP to avoid residential areas with children.
