Turtle Days with no turtle races?

What would Turtle Days be without the turtle races?
The members of the Turtle Lake Chamber of Progress aren’t ready to say the situation is that dire, but they’re also ready for someone or an organization to step up and run the event at this year’s Turtle Days.
The 38th annual home-town festival is set for July 12th and 13th, and several of the events are already scheduled and ready to roll, but the turtle races, as of Wednesday’s chamber meeting, were dead in their tracks. The Tiny Turtles Daycare has run the fundraising event for the past several years, but has opted out for this year.
“It would be sad if we don’t have someone to help out – disappointing,” said the chamber’s Linda Huelsman.
There is some work involved with organizing and running the turtle races, she noted, but it is a pretty decent fundraiser for a day-and-a-half of work. Those running the event get to keep the funds raised from the Turtle Days t-shirt sales, as well as the registration fees for the turtle races.
