Track improvements approved at $345,000

Underwood School board members are taking a step toward improving the track surfaces that could bring track meets to town next spring. Board members approved an option that included $345,000 in improvements on Monday night. Sam Fisher of Fisher Tracks was present at the meeting and described the two options that board members were to consider if they wanted to improve the surface. “I really see very few problems with your track, we just have an old tired base,” Fisher said. He found out the track was last resurfaced 28 years ago. He said there were no structural issues with the base. He added that the drainage from the area was good. That being said, he suggested one of two options. Both included refurbishing the 400-meter oval track with rubber covering and striping.
