The Turtle Lake-Mercer School Board approved the hiring of three new staff members for the upcoming year, filling in all of the openings and completing the staff for the 2020-21 school year. How the 2019-20 school year will finish out has yet to be determined, but the board opted to let this year’s seniors have some input into what should happen with
their graduation ceremony. A survey was sent out to the seniors and their parents, with a variety of options coming back for something to replace the traditional ceremony, set for May 24, if that can’t happen. “Honestly it was kind of all over the place . . . some ideas were thrown out . . . I don’t know if we’ll have something that will be ideal for every single individual, but we just kind of need to know where we’re at,” said Supt. Sheila Schlafmann. After discussion between the board members and several seniors and parents
attending via ZOOM, the board set a deadline for May 1 for the seniors to come up with some ideas for a graduation.
