The man behind the Macabre

There is a method to his madness.
The “madness” behind McLean’s Macabre Manor in Underwood – the brainchild of Underwood’s Kyle Wolf.
A member of the Northern Expressions Arts Council, Wolf and his crew of merry madness makers created the first Macabre Manor last year using the McLean County Fairgrounds livestock barns. This year, they’ve moved things downtown to Underwood’s main business district on Lincoln Ave. in the former Rose Theatre.
“The barns worked for what we needed last year, but because of the time constraints and size of the haunted house, we’re moving it downtown to the building that we own. It’s something that we’ll be able to easily modify every year. And this will bring people downtown instead of just the outside of town,” said Wolf.
There is an arts council board, but Wolf has been getting a lot of help from non NEAC board members as they’ve designed the maze of rooms, each with their own particular scare factor.
Wolf says he got a lot of his room ideas from an unusual place this year -- Pinterest. He ha always been a fan of horror/gory movies, so he’s gotten a lot of ideas from them, as well as billboards and posters.
