Students to see improvements, new teachers

While the major improvement to the Underwood Public School is still in the works, a lot of other improvements have been made at the school this summer.
One of the major improvements is in the ITV room on the first floor, which has been remodeled over the summer.
“Ralph (Roller, head custodian) has worked very hard on the first floor ITV room this summer,” said Supt. Brandt Dick. “It’s been totally remodeled and it’s a much better learning space than in the past.”
Roofing has been completed on the elementary school and library, and the boys’ restroom in the elementary school has been remodeled.
The newly constructed men’s restroom on the second floor should be finished this week.
The construction project still seems to be on track for completion in December in time for basketball season, noted Supt. Dick. Any unforeseen expenses that have come up within the construction have been able to be paid for with contingency funds that were set aside for the project, added Dick, noting that the construction contract is written to ensure the project will not exceed the school board’s $2 million cap.
