Steering committee looking for ‘what’s possible’

“We’re looking for good ideas.”
That’s how Turtle Lake City Auditor Darwin Saari described the Oct. 28 public comprehensive plan meeting held at the senior center, which saw Turtle Lake folks meet to discuss land use possibilities and other things that could improve the quality of life in Turtle Lake, building on the strong foundation the city already has.
Saari’s comment was regarding the planning committee’s desire to get input from not only people who live in Turtle Lake, but people who live in the surrounding area.
“And we’re looking for the whole gamut,” he added. “What’s possible . . . what can be done . . . what people want.”
Those attending Monday’s meeting in Turtle Lake were divided into two groups, given the task of defining what some of Turtle Lake’s wants/needs are. Their answers mirrored those of the steering committed, noting that housing and recreation are major concerns, and fitness programs/instructors are a desire, particularly for seniors.
