Speaking out on superintendent bill

BISMARCK – A bill designed to limit the number of school superintendents in North Dakota, as well as capping their salaries, was met with a resounding opposition during a hearing of the North Dakota House Education Committee on Jan. 25.
HB 1 2 5 1 , which was introduced in the House of Representatives on Jan. 10, would limit the number of superintendents in the state by imposing that school districts with less than 475 students each collaborate with similar-sized districts to share superintendents, as well as limiting the superintendent’s compensation so that it “may not exceed one and one-half percent of the total state and local general fund revenue received by the school district,” language from the bill stated
