Sodas takes title; Clinic top experience

The Underwood Clinic may have had a theme highlighting several queens, but that didn’t stop them from being de-throned Friday night as Sodas & Things won the Best Chili contest in Friday’s Go Loco for Local event.
In Friday’s competitive chili contest, Sodas & Things dethroned the three-time reigning champion clinic for the best chili, earning 80 points. Underwood Warehouse Grocery, which featured bread bowls with its chili, placed second, while Cottingham Insurance placed third in the chili competition.
This is the sixth year the Underwood Civic Club has put on the event, which invites folks to dress in costumes, and stop in at the local merchants to vote on the best chili and the best experience (theme/décor).
About 150 taste-testers cast their ballots in the chili and experience contests, and there were several people who participated in the event, but didn’t vote – opting to just take in the festivities.
There isn’t a whole lot on the line except for bragging rights in the contests (and a traveling trophy), but Sodas & Things’ Jane Rademacher was excited to take the win for the best chili.
