Slow-motion cleanup frustrates commission

The city commissioners worked on dotting some i’s and crossing some t’s, working on taking care of some tiring issues that the commissioners feel like they’ve been patient enough with, including dealing with residences and business properties that are not in compliance with city ordinances and health standards.
Before moving on to taking care of some nuisance and health issues, Dave Wicke and Jesse Berg of Moore Engineering presented the quotes they received from the contractor for snow markers for the "beehives" that were installed as a part of the flood water project – there are three options. Commissioners said they would also like markers for the new culverts, although city workers should be able to purchase those and install them themselves.
Wicke noted that he anticipates Weisz Engineering to be back in Underwood this spring to finish up a few repair and clean-up items.
"They shouldn’t be out here for more than three weeks," speculated Wicke.
"They want to get in, get the punch list, and get all the items corrected. They want to do it quick, too," added Berg.
A little more than one million has been received from the state by Moore, said Berg, noting that an earlier estimated number was used to determine the grant.
