Shooting for mid-November finish

Jesse Berg of Moore Engineering had a lot of explaining to do at Monday night’s city commission meeting, answering repeated questions about the extended amount of time the water was shut off in the construction area of south Underwood on Monday, Oct. 12.

The water was shut off for about 12 hours that day starting at about 11 a.m., instead of the anticipated six hours.

Berg said that he, representatives of Weisz and Sons and city maintenance head Neal Repnow thought they had a plan to have the water shut off to that area for a very short amount of time.

"The plan didn’t work," he said.

"Luckily Neal came in at the last hour and figured out a way to make things work," he added.

Commissioner Ethan Vaagene had questions about what would have been done if there had been a fire in the area, as well as why the residents of that area weren’t forewarned they would not have water for such a long period of time.
