Sewer line repairs adding up

The Underwood City Commission is having to tap into its contingency funds.
As sewer line scoping discloses more issues with some of the sewer lines beneath the streets, the city commission is finding itself having to approve more expenditures to repair the problems.
The most recent unexpected expenditure is going to cost just more than $49,000 to repair sewer line beneath parts of West McKinley, near Westridge Estates, and more on Roosevelt.
The commission also approved fixing the drainage problem at the Veterans Memorial on Main Street.
The commission was given three options on how to alleviate the drainage problems that plague the monument area, ranging from $1,000, which would have been a grass/straw blanket, to a 24” underground pipe with a price tag of about $8,600.
