The students of Miss Shelly Hoff’s senior English class will be taking to the stage to honor their teacher, in celebration of her final year as a teacher at the Underwood School.
The senior English class will be performing “Twelve Angry Jurors” Friday Nov. 18, at the Vonderheide Gymnasium, starting at 7 p.m.
The play is more commonly recognized with the title “Twelve Angry Men,” noted Hoff, but it’s common to rename it “Twelve Angry Jurors” for performances to allow females to perform.
Hoff (or Miss Hoff, to the students) doesn’t know the last time she directed a three-act play at the school, but she has fond memories of her 15 years as drama club advisor in Underwood.
“We put on some fantastic plays,” said Hoff.
She retired from her drama position years ago, but has continued as an English and Speech teacher at Underwood.
Last year, when the juniors were reading “Twelve Angry Jurors,” which is written by Reginald Rose, Hoff said she has always loved that play, and she would love to put it on one more time before she retires from teaching.
