North Dakota Senator Kevin Cramer recently toured the Blue Flint Ethanol plant, located next to the Coal Creek Station, for an onsite look at the plant’s latest initiatives. Blue Flint is working to store all the carbon dioxide produced at the plant underground, otherwise known as carbon capture. Approximately 200,000 tons of carbon per year could be captured below ground for long term storage. “North Dakota has always been on the forefront of these type of technologies,” Cramer said. “When other places talk about an ‘all the above energy plan,’ we actually have all the above energy culture in North Dakota, because the juxtaposition of agriculture and energy is so natural to us. The natural stewardship of natural resources is intuitive to us, whether farming, ranching, or producing energy.”
