A few spruce-up changes have been made, a few staff changes have been made, and the doors will be opening for the 2014 school year at the Underwood Public School this coming Tuesday.
With Lee Weisgarber taking on elementary principal duties as well as his secondary principal duties, Toni Cottingham will be taking on a new position to help out with some administrative and disciplinary issues, adding the title of dean of students.
Cottingham will primarily be dealing with disciplinary issues with the students, added Supt. Dick, which will allow Weisgarber and himself to focus on the administrative issues.
"We didn’t want to overwhelm Mr. Weisgarber," said Supt. Dick. "We want to make it so he’s effective as he has taken on the whole school as principal."
Supt. Dick is happy with the new additions to the staff, which includes three new teachers.
"We’re looking forward to having some excellent new young staff coming on board," he said.
