Sales tax proceeds

"You said this would be fun," said Commissioner Leon Weisenburger Jr., as he shook his head and chuckled, while telling the Underwood City Commissioners the dilemma of distributing sales tax money. Weisenburger, who sits on the Sales and Use Tax Committee, said the position has been anything but fun. "I don’t even want to go out of the house," said Weisenburger. At Monday night’s commission meeting, Weisenburger presented information regarding a request from Duane and Marilyn Grimsley for the purchase of equipment to sell minnows. The committee, Weisenburger said, initially turned down the full amount requested of $4,900. Giving half of each request has been the policy in most cases and the committee recommended $2,450 be given to Grimsleys.
