There was no hesitation by Paula Nostdahl, Underwood, on why she was taking Hunter Education last weekend in Beulah. “My sister shot a really big buck last year, and I want to outdo her,” she said matter-of-factly. Paula, her friend Randi LaCroix, and eight other women participated in the women-only hunter education course held Saturday and Sunday at Beulah High School. The class was led by Clyde Grosz, Hazen; Lori Schweigert, Beulah; and Lori’s son, Tyler Schweigert. The course covered a wide range of topics, from types of firearms and ammunition and safe handling of that equipment, to outdoor survival methods. All of the information was condensed into an intense weekend of both lecture and hands-on lessons, Lori explained. At the end of the weekend, the students were given a written test of 60 questions and practical exam of five questions.
