Ranchers battling frigid temps during calving

There’s no whitewashing it. Calving in 15-below temps is not fun.
“It sucks,” said Ruso’s Darcy Klain, who was just coming back into the house for a bit after checking on the progress of the family’s cows and calves.
Calving is just starting for the Klains – Darcy and her husband Durnell – who expect to bring about 250 Simmental, SimAngus and Angus calves into the world this calving season. They had one that jumped the gun, coming in January, but they’re expecting a steady stream of calves from now until they’re done.
