McLean County State’s Attorney Ladd Erickson and McLean County Sheriff Don Charging took the opportunity to address the community of Underwood at last Tuesday’s city commission meeting, hoping to say their piece, and keep the peace.
At Tuesday’s regular city commission meeting, commission president Rick Olson opened up the meeting by allowing Erickson and Charging to visit with community members regarding a family of white separatists that has recently moved to Underwood. The adult family members, Deb Henderson and Kynan Dutton, were then allowed to address those in attendance, both reading statements and answering questions following their statements.
President Olson immediately told those in attendance that he would not tolerate disorder at the meeting.
"We are going to keep it under good control," he said. "No arguing . . . or I will close it down real fast."
