Pochant doing well after transplant

Most people didn’t even know Coleharbor’s Heith Pochant was sick, he says. Or at least they didn’t think he looked sick, looking back on his condition back in the fall of 2012, right before he had a life-saving kidney transplant – a gift from his son, Justin.
Heith wasn’t even really feeling sick, he says. But he was exhausted most of the day. That’s what happens when one has only 8.5 percent functioning of one’s kidneys. That’s a total of 8.5 percent between the two of them.
It’s a condition he was born with, says Heith – renal reflux; although he didn’t know about it until he was in his 20s. If his family had known about it when he was born, he could have had surgery to alleviate the problem. As it was, with nobody knowing until he was in his 20s, surgery wasn’t a viable alternative. He would just have to live with the condition that would deteriorate his kidneys until he would eventually have to resort to dialysis or a transplant.
Fortunately for Heith and his wife Jaime, Heith’s son Justin turned out to be a perfect match for a kidney.
