One-of-a-kind, The Hymnus Tree

Underwood’s Alisha Schieber was putting a few finishing touches on her new business Friday afternoon, anxiously awaiting the soft opening of her new artisan boutique and craft studio, The Hymnus Tree, a little later that day.
The business is located in Suite 1 of the Let’s Face It Skin Care and Spa building on Second St., and features a variety of artisan-made products, including bath bombs, jewelry, scented candles, gourmet coffee and home décor made by area artisans. She also sells custom-made clothing and cups that she makes under the name The Hymnus Tree, specializing in faith-based and “geeky based” items, she said with a smile.
“I’ve just always thought opening a store would be fun. It was always one of those wild dreams I thought I would actually enjoy doing,” she said. “We came here and somebody mentioned this space was available to rent . . .”
And the rest is history.
Once she and her husband Nathan determined they wanted to open a business, they needed to hone in on what they wanted to offer. They asked the locals what they wanted, what they thought would benefit the community.
“We really heard a lot of people say, ‘we’d really like to be able to come in and make things,” said Alisha.
