New restaurant will open next month

As Underwood’s newest community member, D’Eggos has a lot on its plate. The new restaurant will move in to the former Grandma’s Place building and open as soon as possible, D’Eggos owner Katy Kassian said. Community members are excited to have a restaurant open in town again. Underwood has been without a diner since BobKat’s Café closed several weeks ago. "I think we surprised a lot of people," Kassian said. "The time is definitely right." Earlier this year, Grandma’s Place closed its doors because the owners had a difficult time running it with limited staff. Jim and Ella Johannes owned and operated Grandma’s Place for 14 years. Now that they are both past retirement age, they decided to close the restaurant on April 1 and sell. Kassian decided to buy Grandma’s Place on Oct. 2 and signed papers last week. She and her husband Tom have been considering purchasing the restaurant for over a year, she said.
