A five-year property tax exemption for an energy company was approved by the McLean County Commissioners at their meeting Tuesday morning.
Jeff Zueger, CEO of Midwest Ag Energy, submitted the request for property exemption in January for the CO2 project the company is developing. During the tax exemption meeting, Zueger noted that he is requesting the same consideration that the county gave to Midwest Ag Energy’s Blue Flint plant, located south of Underwood, when it came to property tax exemption.
The property in question, according to the exemption request paperwork, is used for “supporting structures that meet real property definitions for carbon capture equipment, and sequestration equipment inclusive of buildings, pipe rack structures, concrete support structures, underground water infrastructure, underground electrical infrastructure and injection/monitoring well structural components.”
