Midsummer Classic was sizzling

While the many volunteers of the second annual Midsummer Classic were a bit red in the face, there was nothing to be mad about. They put on a great show and brought in a great crowd Saturday afternoon. The red in the face, neck and arms came from the hot sun that shown brightly through the entire event. It was a great day for the car enthusiasts to come out and show off their hard work on the pavement in downtown Underwood. Cars, trucks, bikes and the impressive military vehicles from across the state came out to shine for the crowds. As groups of families wandered down the stretch of vehicles from Quality Lumber to the Underwood Inn, a few of the men got left behind. A custom interior of a GTO, the engine chrome on a Camaro or the memories found in a ‘57 Bel Air all seemed to stop the car lovers in their tracks. It was a day to go back in time and remember the vehicle they had when they were younger. In fact, for a time the people felt young again. Just up the street, the burn out competition had a few contenders. Several of the car show volunteers ran their own vehicles numerous times.
