MidSummer Classic set for Saturday

The forecast for Underwood this Saturday is a toasty 89 degrees, with clear skies with a definite chance of get burned – or more precisely, a burnout, as Underwood presents its annual MidSummer Classic featuring a classic car/motorcycle parade and show and burnout contest--just two of the events on the chock-full schedule of events for the day.
With storms forcing the cancelation of the car show and parade last year, event organizers are hoping the forecast for no rain this Saturday holds true.
"It’s predicted to be nice, and I’m hoping that it’s going to be a big crowd," said Classic Advertising/Marketing Director Ramona Capps.
The parade gets things going at 12:30 p.m., and is followed by the car/motorcycle show in downtown Underwood from 1-5 p.m.
The parade makes a rectangular pattern, starting at the Underwood City Hall, going down Lincoln Avenue to Summit Street, where drivers will hang a right down Summit for about a block before heading east on Roosevelt. They’ll make a right turn when they get to Main Street, then another right back on to Lincoln Avenue, where they will make their way downtown to park along Lincoln Avenue for the show.
2GKC will be announcing the parade entrants and will be presenting the awards for the show at 5:30 p.m.
