Mayor: No more unofficial complaints

If you’ve got complaints about a dog or dogs, make it official.
That’s what Underwood City Commission President Leon Weisenburger says needs to be done from now on if the city is going to be dealing with dog complaints.
A good chunk of Monday night’s meeting was spent discussing two recent unofficial complaints that had been received by Underwood City Commissioner Derrick Fischer regarding dogs owned by breeders Tom and Mindy Weist of Underwood.
Commissioner Patti Werre informed those at Monday’s meeting of the sequence of events in which she got a call from Fischer, who said he had received two complaints about Weist’s dogs barking, as well as odor from the dog feces in the yard.
Werre said she went by the Weist home and agreed there was a lot of odor, so she contacted Weists about it. Mindy Weist noted that they had not been able to clean the yard because there had just been three straight days of rain, but that they would clean and deodorize it right away.
Werre went on a subsequent walk near their property and noted that the odor was gone, and there was no barking.
