Mask makers for the masses

When the nation/worldwide call went out for people who are stuck at home to start sewing face masks, people from all over dusted off their sewing machines, headed to the fabric
store and started searching online to find the correct width elastic. Others simply turned their machines on, searched through their stockpiles of fabric, interfacing and elastic,
and started sewing. Two of those who happened to have a sewing machine at the ready, with plenty of fabric to get started with, are Turtle Lake’s Kelly Voth and Underwood’s Vikki Ash. Voth, who is normally at work at the Turtle Lake Public Library, is spending more time at home these days because of the COVID-19 recommendations, and instead of using her spare time doing one of her favorite hobbies, quilting, she decided to put her skills and sewing machine to work. She’s already surpassed her first goal of making 50 of the
home-made masks, and she’s well on her way to doing more, donating them to whomever asks for one or more – whatever they need, for free.
