Turtle Lake’s main street spruce-up will be starting this spring as the city, local business owners and Lyle Hogue of the Lewis and Clark Development Group began working together to determine how the $100,000 Main Street Initiative grants should be used.
Turtle Lake, as well as the cities of Jamestown and Minto, each received grants from Gov. Doug Burgum’s Main Street Fund which is earmarked for Main Street rehabilitation to building exteriors, or streetscape improvements.
Turtle Lake city auditor Darwin Saari informed the members of the Turtle Lake Chamber of Progress at its recent Tuesday meeting that work on the store fronts will start as soon as the weather allows, and locals will see some obvious improvements to the storefronts.
Other improvements are being made around town this summer, he noted, as a pickle ball court is being added to the city park, and a Frisbee golf course is also being set up.
“Frisbee golf is coming to Turtle Lake,” he said.
The park board is also looking at replacing the current picnic shelter and barbecue pit at the city park as well make improvements to the rest rooms.
