There is no special city meeting scheduled to discuss the "white supremacists" that have moved to Underwood. And no, nobody has been forbidden from attending St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Underwood. And no, there weren’t a bunch of white supremacists walking around Underwood with video cameras to get a good look at the town Saturday afternoon.
Those are just a few of the rumors that were bandied around Underwood over the weekend. There was also mention of folks walking around with blow horns, which also is untrue, according to McLean County Sheriff Don Charging.
"There has been nothing," he said. "To me, it’s just exploitation of this issue, and a lot of it is just rumor and innuendo."
Speculation and rumors have been running rampant through Underwood and the surrounding area following a recent story in the Bismarck Tribune regarding the Kynan Dutton and Deborah Henderson family who recently rented a home in Underwood.
Dutton recently made news when he was arrested along with white separatist Craig Cobb as they walked through the town of Leith with weapons, charged with terrorizing. Dutton has been released, while Cobb is still in custody. Cobb had made it well known that he was trying to buy up property in Leith to create a community for like-minded white separatists.
