‘A nightmare of a phone call to get’

A Turtle Lake-Mercer school bus transporting the fifth and sixth grade girls basketball team to practice in McClusky Friday afternoon
was involved in a threevehicle accident that killed a Harvey woman. Eleven girls were on the bus, nine were taken to the hospital and
treated for injuries. All have been released. The accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on N.D. Highway 200 at mile marker 221, one-half mile east of Pickardville. According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol report, a 2004 Chevy Impala was traveling westbound and crossed the center line. A pickup pulling a trailer was traveling east and steered to the right to avoid a collision with the Impala. The Impala missed
the pickup but struck the trailer. The school bus was behind the trailer and hit the Impala head on.
