Kickstands are up at noon this Saturday as the Harbor Angels hit the road again with a fundraiser ride and poker run to benefit Coleharbor’s Jaime Pochant, who is recovering from surgery and extended treatment following surgery for Stage II breast cancer.
The poker run/ride fundraiser is set to get under way at the Harbor Bar in Coleharbor Saturday (July 9) at noon, with registration for the run starting at 11:30 a.m. The route for the ride will be announced at the Harbor Bar. The day’s events also include an auction starting at 6 p.m., music and taco-in-a-bag on the menu.
After being diagnosed Jan 12 with Stage II breast cancer, Jaime opted to get rid of not just the cancer that was already in her body, but to eliminate the prospect of it cropping up elsewhere, so she underwent a double mastectomy and a hysterectomy.
While the surgeries seemed to have gone just fine, she ended up having complications that included MRSA, a severe Staph infection that could have cost her her life, had she not gone back to the hospital.
