Increase to city mowing costs

If you have your lawn mowed by the city because you are unable to or just don’t want to, it’s going to cost you even more. Lots were being mowed and charged for on an hourly basis. Commissioners increased that to $50 per lot when they realized that they were charging less than what some commercial lawn mowing companies were charging. Getting to all the lots was not an easy task and KC Snyder visited with commissioners again this time thankful that Earl Cottingham was willing to hop on a mower and do the job himself. Cottingham mowed 22 lots in the Repnow/Mees Addition in order to follow the grass mowing ordinance that the City has been enforcing in city limits. City maintenance superintendent Jerry Radke said that keeping up with mowing was difficult because as he makes his rounds, it’s already time to mow behind him again before he can even cover all the other ground in front of him. Commissioners asked him to work with summer employees to do the work so he isn’t working overtime all the time. “There is only so much we can do,” Radke said.
