Honor society asking for pet food donations

Students in Underwood’s National Honor Society have several projects in the works, hoping to bring some extra cheer to people from all over (and animals, too) this holiday season.

The Honor Society members (Tony Heidelberger, Paige Weisenberger, Erin Dammann, Madison Holm, Thomas Heidelberger and Lindsey Duben) are making Christmas cards for soldiers, Christmas boxes for under-privileged children, and they are gathering food and toys for the animals at the Central Dakota Humane Society in Mandan.

Boxes are set up at the school to collect items for the Humane Society, but if someone who would like to donate something can’t make it to the school, other arrangements can be made to get the items to the school, said Erin.

"They can just bring it to the school, or if they know us, they can hand it to us whenever they see us, and we’ll drop it off," she said.

Dog and cat food and/or treats are being collected, as well as toys, said Honor Society advisor Kim Wirtz.
