Home Town Holiday improv

Numbers were down this year, but spirits were holiday high during this year’s Home Town Holiday celebration last week. Sponsored by the Underwood Civic Club, the weekend-full of events brought community members together for food, entertainment and shopping. This year, the kids’ shopping day was successful, but only about 27 kids participated on Saturday morning. Normally, about 50 children show up to shop, Civic Club Treasurer Diane Schell said. However, a good number of children came to City Hall Saturday afternoon to watch "Santa Buddies," which was followed by a public appearance by Santa himself. More than 50 children lined up to sit on Santa’s lap and tell him their wishes. "It’s cute how some of them just kept giving him hugs," Schell said.
