Holt appointed interim Mayor of Coleharbor

After the resignation of Coleharbor Mayor Heith Pochant last month, a new mayor was appointed during a reorganizational meeting April 2 to finish the rest of his term.
The new mayor, Chris Holt, has lived in Coleharbor for four years and has been an Alderman on the city council for about a year and a half.
Garrison kindergarten teacher and Coleharbor resident, Stetson Pedersen, has been appointed to Holt’s vacated Alderman’s position.
An official election will be held in June.
The council wrapped up a few large projects before Pochant’s departure, so Holt is coming in with a clean slate.
Holt wants to focus on growing revenue for Coleharbor and has began discussions on a Home Rule Charter Tax as Coleharbor residents currently do not pay any taxes.
“We are a town that needs revenue,” Holt said. “We have revenue, but not enough to do a lot of the projects we want to do. I’m hoping that people do pass it when it comes to a vote because it will better the city.”
Holt said he thinks that Coleharbor is in a position to cater to unique business.
