Democratic candidate Katrina Christiansen and Independent candidate Rick Becker answered questions during a debate Monday in Washburn. Both are challenging Senator John Hoeven for his senate seat on the ballot this year. Becker, a three-term state senator, is
running as an independent after a failed attempt to unseat Hoeven in the North Dakota Republican primary for the official party nod.
Christiansen is an engineer and educator, with a pedigree of research in energy and agriculture on her resume. Moderated by former
Bismarck Mayor Steve Bakken and former state senator Tyler Axness, the candidates fielded questions on a variety of topics, including the Fufeng USA corn milling project.
