Goats and good books

Goats and good books

BY ALYSSA MEIER

Children left the Underwood Public Library Sunday with hands full of books and clothes full of
horse hair.

Sunday marked the kick off of Tails and Tales, the library’s summer reading program that provides incentives for youth to take in some books this summer. To launch the program, the
Underwood 4-H students set up pens with horses, goats and a calf outside of the library Sunday.

“It’s the first time we’ve done it in collaboration with the library,” 4-H leader Katie Heger said, noting that 4-H students in years past have invited the public to learn about their animals, but never as part of the summer reading program kick off.
