Nicole Harmann, 37, moved away from Underwood quite a few years ago after she graduated from high school, but her family is hoping everyone who remembers when she was still Nicole Peck will turn out to help support Nicole and her family as she continues to fight a battle with cancer that has left the mother/stepmother of three at a full-time care center in Reno, Nev.

There will be a benefit pancake and sausage breakfast at the Underwood City Hall this Sunday, Sept. 7, from 9 a.m. ‘til 2 p.m. There will also be a silent auction and a bake sale. All of the funds will go to the Harmann family to help defray costs of Nicole’s extensive medical care.

Since Nicole’s diagnosis, her husband, Kevin, was laid off from work. Nicole is also on unpaid leave from her job as a pediatric audiologist, as she has already used up all of her vacation/PTO.

Nicole was originally diagnosed with breast cancer about a year ago, according to her aunt Terri Wolf. She found out in July that it had metastasized to her liver, bones and lungs. She has been receiving care at the Century Wellness Center, an alternative cancer treatment center, since July.

Terri is hoping the whole community will turn out this Sunday to help support the family, both emotionally and financially.
