From trucks to ATVs, city tackling traffic
By Suzanne Werre, BHG News Service
With the possibility, even probability, that traffic in and around Underwood is going to continue growing along with the Bakken oil field boom, city commissioners are going to try to get a handle on some issues that are already cropping up that have to do with the increased amount of traffic involved. At last week’s city commission meeting, commissioners fielded some complaints regarding issues with Fox Run, the frac sand company located on Lincoln Ave. At the planning and zoning meeting held earlier in the evening, several complaints were brought up regarding the dust and/or mud on the Fox Run property that is brought onto Lincoln Ave. Other issues that were brought up included safety (children walking to and from the library that cross over Fox Run property) and speed of the Fox Run trucks. Some of those issues were brought up later at the regular city commission meeting. Linda Pryor, who owns property adjacent to Fox Run, noted that some frac sand had been dumped on her property, and she was concerned about the welfare of her horses. She said that she had been in contact with a representative from Fox Run, but had not yet heard anything back.
