Food Bank making Underwood drop
By Michael Johnson, Editor
A semi load of perishable food items will roll into Underwood from 4 to 6 p.m. on Aug. 22 next to the Underwood City Hall. The food is available to anyone in need and comes from the Great Plains Food Bank, which gathers unused food from major grocers in the state. Rachel Alme, agency relations specialist with the Great Plains Food Bank, said they chose Underwood as a central location in McLean County to help offer assistance to the region with this drop. “McLean County has been on our radar for a long time,” Alme said. Many of the food bank drops go to to the Parshall and Fort Yates areas as those continue to be high need areas. “Anyone can come that’s in need of assistance,” Alme said. She added that folks can pick up for those that are home- bound or can’t come.
