First District Health opting for move

McLean County’s First District Health Unit has been on the move this year, even more than usual. Because of health issues at the court house in Washburn, the First District office moved to the Rader Building to occupy the office area until further notice. Now First District has been approached by the owners of the building, Lowell and Julie Rader, about a more permanent option. Lisa Clute, Executive Officer from First District Health Unit, spoke with county commissioners at the Oct. 21 meeting to present options that have opened up for them. The offices in the court house are small and require the unit to find larger areas to hold special clinics. The Raders want First District to consider renting either the entire building including the health and exercise center at the cost of $750 plus utilities, or the health and exercise portion of the building for $500 plus utilities and the smaller office would be rented out separately. Clute sad, "The larger space is available now and the First District staff would like to occupy the larger space. We could do special clinics without having to move somewhere outside the office." She explained that the Rader building has several advantages over moving back into the court house. It is handicap accessible, which also makes it easier for parents when bringing in car seats for checks or picking them up for use. There are no steps to go up and down.
