Farmers market a hit

Locals can count on picking up more fresh produce at the Coleharbor Farmers Market throughout the summer, as the first day of the new venture was deemed a success by the gardeners who brought produce to sell, and those who came to shop last Wednesday. The market will be held the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month throughout the summer.

The sale started at the Coleharbor City Park at 10:30, and by about noon, Kim Sayler, who organized the event, was running pretty low on everything.

"It was a little crazy," she said, referring to how things went right away that morning.

Coleharbor’s Kristi Baker wasn’t there right away when the market opened, but she was happy to be able to pick up some fresh beans and a few other things that were still available.

"I didn’t get a garden in this year, and I just love garden stuff," she smiled, as she weighed her beans purchase.

Coleharbor Mayor Pete Baker did his part to get the word about the Farmers Market out, setting up a sign along US Highway 83 directing people to the market.
