Erhardts sweep 1, 2, 3 – headed to World’s

Coleharbor’s Wanda Erhardt won’t be celebrating her wedding anniversary with her husband this Thursday, but she’s taking it in stride. Instead, she will be watching him on a live feed from Amarillo, Texas, as Dale competes at the Cowboy Mounted Shooting World Championships.

At least Dale won’t be alone. He is being joined at the World Championship by their children, Jason and Sara Erhardt-Schank, all competing in the pistol division. Jason now lives in Bismarck and Sara lives by Richardton with her husband, Jesse, but they’re still recognized as local cowboys.

All three will be competing to bring home a world championship title in mounted shooting, which is the fastest-growing equestrian spot in the nation.

All three have been competing throughout the summer at several mounted shooting competitions throughout mostly North Dakota and Minnesota – all along with the goal that they would eventually be headed to the "World’s" this fall. There was one caveat, though. All three had to qualify, or none of them would go.

Fortunately for them, they all qualified. And not in a small way. In describing how they finished this season, Jason said, "Sara finished high point for the state . . . dad won the men’s high point."
