Emergency route, mine pond city topics

Following a major dumping of snow last week, Underwood’s head of city maintenance Neal Repnow was working on what he deemed a priority for the city, establishing emergency routes that would get the most immediate snow removal.
He said he is visiting with current ambulance squad members to establish a route that would enable them to get to the ambulance bay, and then get the ambulance where it needs to go.
"There is a route, but nobody really knows what it is," Repnow told city commissioners at last Monday’s regular meeting.
Repnow had already been busy with snow removal before last week’s meeting, and noted that the new snow plow works well, and it should help quite a bit with maintaining Underwood’s streets this winter.
Earlier in the meeting, representatives of Falkirk Mining Company addressed the commission, updating them on a large pond that is being dug at the corner of US Highway 83 and ND Highway 200.
Falkirk’s Randy Crooke, Doug Stoltz and Steve Bitz were at the meeting to assure the commission that the water that collects in that pond will NOT drain into "Pryor’s slough," which is located just east of Underwood and is already a drainage problem for Underwood.
