The Underwood Area Economic Development Corporation is planning to make a big push toward promoting Underwood and what it has to offer.
At the EDC’s meeting on Wednesday, the group approved spending $5,000 on a marketing campaign aimed at bringing shoppers and potential new businesses into Underwood.
Economic Developer Wendy Spencer said that Underwood needs to reach out to someone who can identify the best ways to market what Underwood has to offer. She has been in touch with a representative of an area advertising agency who is willing to help the EDC come up with a plan of attack.
She noted that typically women are drawn to digital advertising, whereas men are more likely to notice print advertising.
Working with an advertising agency will enable Underwood to be reach more people, said Spencer.
"I think when we talk about a marketing plan for Underwood businesses, we’re not looking at a one-time shot. We’re looking for something that’s sustained -- we’re looking for a presence that’s a little bit greater," said Spencer.
