Do you have a big idea?
It has been brought to the attention of the McLean County Extension that there is a growing need for the expansion of facilities in the county.
NDSU Extension Agent Sarah Bedgar from McLean County set up an open meeting to invite community members from McLean County to discuss ideas with of “the sky’s the limit,” brainstorming session on March 4 at Underwood City Hall.
About 26 people from as far south as Wilton all the way to Max attended the meeting.
“Ever since I took this position with the Extension office people have been saying to me [from all walks of life and all different areas of interest] ‘hey, we would really like to expand XYZ program, but we just don’t have the space for it’ from all across McLean County,” Bedger said. “So that involves 4-H shooting sports, the need for teaching space, or a commercial kitchen that people could rent out if they are looking at doing some value-added agriculture or cooking classes ... our horse folks, 4-H horse folks, rodeo and other equine people from multiple counties have said, ‘gosh, we’d really like an arena where we could host events,” and there just isn’t anything like that between Bismarck and Minot.”
