Differing opinions on county hiring policies

Trying to come up with a standard policy regarding hiring practices for county job applicants is proving to be a long process.
At the McLean County Commission’s last meeting in early December, State’s Attorney Ladd Erickson presented a proposal for standard hiring practices.
At Tuesday’s more recent meeting, deputy auditor Lori Foss presented a new employment application and hiring process policies option, which is different than the proposed policies Erickson presented at the last meeting.
With Foss’ plan, scoring process will be done by HR in coordination with the department head, or whoever the department head designates; the scoring sheet would be determined before it is sent to a hiring committee.
"I think all departments should be subject to this process," said commissioner Steve Lee. "We need to be consistent from one department to another department."
