Dakota Feeder Calf Show serves up a good time

The 23rd Annual Dakota Feeder Calf Show held Saturday in Turtle Lake attracted beef cattle experts, auctioneers, crafters and lots of great food.
Highlights throughout the day included a Craft a Wellness show held at the Turtle Lake-Mercer school gym which included a tasty lunch comprised of knoephla, sausage and sauerkraut. From there people migrated across town to the Dakota Frontier Cooperative (DFC) to shop and watch master craftsmen bend steel and saw logs into artwork.
Hagen Blacksmithing from Maddock shared the nuances of their craft including explaining heat differences between of various types of coal. Dean Hagen and his associate Luke Benson created various items for purchase and then donated several items for a live auction at the banquet later in the day.
