Courthouse plans presented to commissioners
By Michael Johnson, Editor
Preliminary plans for a new McLean County Courthouse were presented to Washburn City Commissioners on Monday night by McLean County States Attorney Ladd Erickson. Erickson wanted commissioners to understand how a new courthouse would be situated in the city if the plans are finalized as presented. He also hoped to answer any questions commissioners might have regarding the structure. Erickson explained that the building will be placed immediately on the south side of the Law Enforcement Center. The first floor will be level with the alley and there will be two floors above that. The outer exterior will match that of the LEC. Erickson said it would be necessary to remove the steel building now used for storage. That would likely be put up for auction and sold on bids. The buyer would then have to remove the building from the site.
