Clothing Pantry is no more
By Michael Johnson, Editor
It was a place for locals to buy cheap, quality clothes and get a little bit of friendly chatter on the side. But after 17 years of business, situated between the post office and the Lewis and Clark Saloon, the McLean Family Resource Center Clothing Pantry has closed. Dozens of people stopped in on the last day the pantry was open to see if there was any more good finds. And most walked away with more than they expected. "If you’ll take it we’ll take it, Sheila Vander Wal said laughing. Sheila has worked at the clothing pantry for about three years and said it has been a fun place to work. She gave generous deals as the last week they were open was "Fill a bag for a buck week." Many shared a feeling of sadness that the familiar place would no longer be around. Many others came in for the first time after hearing it would soon close. "It’s just a nice place to come and get things that I can afford," Edie Bauer said as she browsed through a few remaining blouses. "We’ll miss it."
